Valery Aleksandrovich Kudryavtsev is a professor, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, and the founder of the pediatric surgical service in the Arkhangelsk region. The results of his scientific research are presented in more than 120 scientific papers and publications. V.A. Kudryavtsev's main areas of scientific activity cover a wide range of areas of pediatric surgery: emergency and general pediatric surgery, pediatric traumatology and orthopedics, pediatric urology-andrology, resuscitation and anesthesiology, ultrasound diagnostics in pediatric surgery, and the organization of specialized care for children in the North. V.A. Kudryavtsev introduced the basic principles and aspects of providing surgical care to children with a wide range of congenital malformations. He developed a system of staged treatment for children with malformations, as well as principles for providing surgical care to newborns, children with severe injuries, and purulent-septic diseases. V.A. Kudryavtsev was the chief pediatric surgeon of the Arkhangelsk region (1971–2000) and rector of the Arkhangelsk State Medical Institute (1988–1993). His accomplishments include the opening of the regional children's hospital, the establishment of a pediatric faculty at the medical institute, and the creation of a pediatric surgery department at the Medical Institute. Kudryavtsev's role as an educator and organizer is noted, having created a system for training medical personnel and a scientific and practical school in the European North that remains relevant to this day.

The article reflects the inextricable link between Kudryavtsev's scientific achievements, practical healthcare, and his teaching activities.

Валерий Александрович Кудрявцев ― профессор, заслуженный врач Российской Федерации, основатель детской хирургической службы Архангельской области. Результаты его научных исследований представлены более чем в 120 научных трудах и публикациях. Основные направления научной деятельности В.А. Кудрявцева отражают широкий круг разделов детской хирургии: неотложная и плановая детская хирургия, детская травматология и ортопедия, детская урология-андрология, реаниматология и анестезиология, ультразвуковая диагностика в детской хирургии, организация специализированной помощи детям в условиях Севера. В.А. Кудрявцев внедрил основные принципы и аспекты оказания хирургической помощи детям с широким спектром врождённых пороков развития. Им разработаны система этапного лечения детей с пороками развития, принципы оказания хирургической помощи новорождённым, детям с тяжёлыми травмами и гнойно-септическими заболеваниями. В.А. Кудрявцев был главным детским хирургом Архангельской области (1971–2000) и ректором Архангельского государственного медицинского института (1988–1993). Заслугой В.А. Кудрявцева является открытие детской областной больницы и педиатрического факультета в медицинском институте, создание в вузе кафедры детской хирургии. Отмечена роль В.А. Кудрявцева как педагога и организатора, создавшего систему подготовки медицинских кадров и научно-практическую школу на Европейском Севере, актуальную до настоящего времени.

Статья отражает неразрывную связь научных достижений В.А. Кудрявцева с практическим здравоохранением и его педагогической деятельностью.
