Abstract
The commentary presents a discussion of the attempt proposed by the authors of the article "On the classification of peritonitis in children" to present a single unified classification of peritonitis in children. According to the author of this comment, the article is a review of the literature on the classification of peritonitis. Readers are invited to focus on the controversial points discussed by the authors of the article, which may add additional confusion to the currently existing views on the etiopathogenesis of peritonitis. In addition, the classification headings proposed in the article are not new and are ambiguous in the interpretation of the authors. Most of these headings are already presented in any Russian manual on abdominal surgery or general pathology. The editorial board of the journal of Pediatric Surgery invites pediatric surgeons to continue the discussion on the pages of the journal and express their opinions.
